After a decision was delivered in the Victorian Family Court, our client's former wife, the applicant, filed submissions seeking her solicitor's costs of the entire proceeding because she had made an offer to resolve the matter a year ago which she argued should have been accepted by the respondent. Our client engaged us after the applicant filed her submissions. We spent a couple of hours preparing submissions on behalf of the respondent, and because of this, the respondent was only ordered to pay $23,000 to the applicant, instead of the $110,000 claimed by her.
