Our client approached us in February 2021, disappointed and angry by being charged over 1 million dollars in legal fees by his family lawyer. We initially filed a Summons for Taxation in the Supreme Court of Victoria, Costs Court, in November 2021 and the former lawyer was ordered to file a copy of the bill of costs, costs agreements and a cash account. We then prepare a notice of objections to the bill in June 2022, and attended two mediation. After further negotiations, we were able to achieve a refund of $235,000.00 and a waiver of the unpaid amount of $82,427.90 - a reduction of well over $317,000 to our client's legal fees.
